What is a ceramic filter disc?
Ceramic filter discs are flat, disc-shaped filter elements made of porous, engineered ceramic. Their finely structured surface ensures the precise removal of particles, germs, and other contaminants from liquids or gases.
The disc shape was deliberately chosen because it allows for rotation during the filtration process. This movement continuously clears the filter surface of deposited particles—which increases flow rate, extends service life, and reduces cleaning effort. At the same time, the compact design provides a large active filter area in a small space.

Here's how it works
Filtration based on the outside-to-inside principle
The raw fluid flows along the outside of the disc. Microporous pores trap particles while allowing the fluid to pass through. The clear filtrate is collected on the inside and discharged in a controlled manner.
Materials and Construction
KERAFOL® manufactures ceramic filter discs made of high-purity aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃)—in various diameters and pore sizes for microfiltration and ultrafiltration. They are used in rotary filtration and dynamic cross-flow filtration (DCFF) for solid-liquid separation.
