Membrane discs
for flotation / fumigation
by KERAFOL®
The finest bubbles. Maximum impact.
Our ceramic membrane discs introduce air, oxygen, CO₂, or ozone directly into liquids—
ly efficient, durable, and versatile.

Explained in 60 seconds
What is that?
Porous ceramic discs through which gas escapes in the form of fine bubbles.
What do they do?
The tiny microbubbles provide a larger contact surface—and thus maximum efficiency.
Why is that a good thing?
Lower gas consumption, better mixing, stable processes.
Where are they used?
In fish farming, wastewater treatment, beverage production, the chemical industry, and the pharmaceutical industry.
Video: Rotary fumigation
KERAFOL® ceramic membrane discs can be used to introduce a wide variety of gases into liquids.
Applications range from flotation and fish farming to chemical engineering.
To achieve this, pressure is applied to the discs from the inside via channels. The gas permeates through the porous material. At a pressure of approximately 1.9 bar (H₂O / air), tiny bubbles emerge at the surface. This process can be further optimized by adding rotation, resulting in extremely fine bubble size distributions (static: approx. 50 µm; rotating: approx. 20 µm mean bubble size). The discs can be installed horizontally or vertically. They can also be used in high-pressure systems and at temperatures near the boiling point.
