PSZ (partially stabilized zirconium oxide)
With 5 Mol.% yttrium oxide of partially stabilized zirconium dioxide.
Zirconium dioxide is found in nature as a mineral called baddeleyite. Due to the technical requirements of the material, however, zirconium dioxide for ceramic use is gained from zircon sand, purified, prepared and stabilized with Y2O3. This yields a material with outstanding characteristics.
As a partially stabilized material, zirconium dioxide is distinguished by the following characteristics:
- high resistance to fracture
- thermal expansion similar to that of stainless steel
- the highest compressive, flexural and tensile strength
- high wear resistance
- high corrosion resistance
- very good tribological characteristics
- substrate grain size of approx. 1 µm
Durch eine prozessbedingte sehr glatte Oberfläche des Materials erübrigt sich teilweise der Einsatz von zusätzlichem Läppen oder Polieren.
Standard formats: 50,8 x 50,8 mm, 101,6 x 101,6 mm
