KERALPOR 99

A porous setter made of 99.5% aluminum oxide
for sintering components.

New materials and techniques call for new equipment for component manufacturing. Today's anti-lock brake systems, fuel injection systems and heart pacemakers are based on multi-layer technology. Complex metal components can be created through metal injection molding (MIM). This raises the question of homogeneous burnout of the organic binder systems needed for the processes.

Due to the surface finish, the composition and the immense thermal ballast, traditional sintering aids don't often achieve this with sufficient quality or economy. For the same task, we have developed our own product and have sintered very successfully with it for years.

The market has accepted it so enthusiastically that we are selling ever more of our Keralpor Setter product for LTCC, fuel cells, powdered metals, dental applications and oven manufacturing.

Depending on requirements, we can offer our Keralpor 99 product with Al2O3 content of 99.5% and a porosity of 36-38% by volume. For higher strength and resistance to temperature change, we have Keralpor S, made of 92% Al2O3 and 8% ZrO2. Should you prefer a ZrO2 surface our Keralpor 99 Z is the right choice for you.

Advantages:

  • good to very good temperature change resistance (depending on type)
  • low kiln ballast
  • good compatibility with other batts made of mullite, corundum, RSiC, CFC and molybdenum
  • high porosity with small pores
  • absorbs the binder into the pores during debinding
  • doesn't adhere to the component
  • homogeneous contraction due to unhindered shrinkage
  • inert aluminum oxide or aluminum oxide + zirconium dioxide material
  • can be produced in edge lengths to approx. 330 mm x 330 mm
  • can be handled and placed in kilns robotically

If you prefer a zirconium dioxide surface, Keralpor 99 Z is available.
